EZ-Link cards can be used for both trains (MRT) and buses. They are widely used by frequent commuters
Standard ticket can be used for one-time journey and on trains only. It cannot be used for buses
To board the train (MRT), you have to use either EZ-Link or standard ticket card to enter the platform. At the gantry gates, proceed to the gates with the green arrow. Red cross gates are for exits
This gate will only open after you tap your card on the sensor
To tap, gently put your card on the green area with the image of a hand holding a card. A green light will flash and the gate will open. The small screen above will then show the balance of your card
You tap in when you start a journey and tap out when it ends. The system will deduct the money in your card according to the distance you have travelled
The same steps are applied when you board the buses. Tap in when you get on and tap out when you get off. Fare, distance and card balance are displayed on the screen above the sensor
Remember to tap in and tap out to pay the correct fare. If you forgot to tap out, the system will deduct the fare for the entire bus route
