now lets get started. i will start by teaching you about RAM, then ROM, then virtual memory but finally flash memory

The first type of storage is RAM this stands for random access memory. this is the temporary storage of program instructions so that they can be retrieved quickly by the CPU when they are required.

Random Access Memory (RAM): Memory that is constantly being written to and read from. It does not retain its contents without a constant supply of power, ie when a computer is turned off.

The second type is ROM which means read only memory. this type of memory is non-volatile and cannot be edited because this contains the data for the BIOS to start up the computer.

ROM (read only memory) is a flash memory chip that contains a small amount of non-volatile memory. Non-volatile means that its contents cannot be changed and it keeps its memory after loss of power

The virtual memory is used when RAM gets filled up. this then uses space from the hard disk to delegate some space for temporary storage of commands this usually happens when you open too many files

Virtual memory is a section of volatile memory created temporarily on the storage drive. It is created when a computer is running many processes at once and RAM is running low.

Flash memory is a type of nonvolatile memory that erases data in units called blocks. A block stored on a flash memory chip must be erased before data can be written, or programmed, to the microchip.

There are two main types of flash memory, which are named after the NAND and NOR logic gates. NAND type flash memory may be written and read in blocks (or pages) and NOR gates can hold one byte.
