Here are the basic supplies you'll need. I had a new full box of salt and a mostly empty one, together they completely filled my jar.

Use your serrated knife to cut the lid off of the salt box.

I cut around the edge of the lid with my knife so that it would be flexible and easier to cut around the edge with my scissors. The size of the box top and the jar lid are a perfect fit.

Cut as close to the edge as possible, it will ensure a better fit. If you don't get it just right you can hot glue it into the jar ring, but it's not necessary.

I decided to cover my lid with the page of an old dictionary that I keep on hand for art projects. You can leave yours plain or cover with fabric or paper, use Modpodge to glue it on & seal it.

Finished product. Now I can fill my shaker and measuring spoons in style. 👍 I was impatient and didn't smooth the air bubbles out from my paper after gluing it.
