Hope this helps - it's how we trained all three of our dogs over the years.

Place a pee pad in a designated area - make sure the chosen location stays consistent throughout training.

We chose a spot near the patio door because we wanted the dogs to get used to the idea of going to the door to pee. Which we would later use as an indicator to let them outside when old enough.

Next time your puppy pees, take the pee pad and soak up the pee with it. Place the pee stained pad back in the designated area. Clean and disinfect the rest of the mess.

Every time your pup pees in the wrong spot IMMEDIATELY pick them up and place them on the pee pad. REPEAT EVERY SINGLE TIME. Clean and disinfect their mess afterwards.

After awhile, start to reward your puppy with a treat if they start to pee near the designated area. But continue the routine of placing them on the pee pad IMMEDIATELY after each accident.

It took about a week for each puppy to pee pretty consistently on the pads all by themselves.

*It's important to have a firm voice when disciplining your pets but don't ever yell or hit them. Treat all animals with love and respect. It will strengthen your relationship and their trust.

If your puppy is slow to progress I suggest placing the pee stained area of the pad close to the puppy's nose to sniff to help recognize and associate the area with their scent. DO NOT RUB IN FACE!

Each time your puppy pees on the pad all by themselves REWARD THEM. Lots of love, treats and petting!

Once your puppy is trained to pads and old enough you can head outside. Basically just move the pee pad right outside the door and help them out each time they head to the old designated area.
