Start by asking your dog to lay down. Your dog will need to know how to lay down before you can teach him to roll.

Next, put your hand (that's holding the treat) to one side of your dog's head. Get him to face your hand but make sure he is still laying down.

Slowly move your hand further over his head. To prevent your dog from turning to the other side after your hand is over his head, move your hand closer to his head.

He will end up facing the other side, making a full turn. Make sure to say "roll" or "roll over" while doing this.
