My first habit breaking idea is to keep your nails painted the taste of nail polish doesn't taste like chocolate so you won't be tempted to bite your nails
Remove all nail polish and artificial nails (faux or fake nails)
Apply a base coat
Paint your nails, however don't worry about excess polish simply pour some remover into the cap dip a cotton swab and gently rub AROUND your nail to remove all extra polish
Now wait for your nails to dry Then apply a top coat
The next tip would be the stress ball. People often bite there nails because of stress or fear but now instead of biting you squeeze this sends a wave of relieve up to your brain causing you to calm
If you can't afford a stress ball you can use a rubber duck
If this doesn't work you call for fun if uo make yourself busy you aren't going to bite your nails. Take a few days off work or go to a spa!
