STEPS
TOOLS
I used to bite my nails- you can see I don't now!
Try moving to one hand to bite, or a specific finger. After a while, the other nails will grow and hopefully inspire you to grow the bitten nails to the same length!
Paint them- not only does polish taste disgusting, but it's really hard to bite through- and looks nice!
If you can't/don't want to paint your nails, use either clear nail polish or that bitter anti-bite coating on your nails.
Distract yourself. If you want to bite your nails, try tapping out a rhythm with your fingers, sit on your hands- anything! Don't do what I did and tear your hangnails- it hurts and is hard to stop!
Reward yourself- You managed a week without nail biting? Well done! Buy a little thing for yourself- chocolate is always good- or think of something else you can do to reward progress.
Don't give up. You started again after two successful weeks? Never mind. Try again. Keep going- it will take time, but it will work in the end if you do.
- Patience :)
