INGREDIENTS
In a bowl mix Maseca and warm water *like when you make tortillas
As the water hits don’t allow the masca to clump
Should look like this Kind of a play dough texture
In a plastic ziplock bag (I cut the sides to have two open pieces) Take a ball (size is your preference) this will depend how many you end up with
Smash kind of like a tortilla (This device was given to me by my mom to make sopes) *kids toy- lol*
You can also smooth and pat out with your hand -leave kind of thick, not to be thin like a tortilla
Heat your comal or cast iron on med heat Heat sope on both sides until brown
Take off the comal and pinch the sides like you would an apple pie while warm
Should look like this
In a pan, heat on med with oil to deep fry sopes
Fry each side for about 2-3 mins or until golden brown
Layer with what you desire. Pictured: Refried beans, lettuce, sour cream and cheese
This one has salsa on it Yes, you can use chicken or ground beef. Truly whatever you want. Enjoy!
