This is what I use for my photographs. The hipstamatic case comes with and attachment that will allow it to be connected to a tripod.

Here is the setup when it is together. Love the tripod since it will wrap around things that a normal tripod can't stand on.

I used this setup to create our Easter photos this year using Camera+ app (allows a timer) and also used Instagram to enhance the color.

For video, this new startup Satarii has a great base that combines a wireless mic with a base that follows the direction of the lanyard.
