TOOLS
-Social Media- Get on it! It's a free way to advertise yourself. It reaches millions of people worldwide. The majority of employers use the internet to search and screen new employees!
Be Mindful! Anything you put online is there forever and for anyone. Employers don't want see you bashing company's online or posting drunken pictures. A careless comment can cost you a job!
Find Your Niche! What are you good at? What are your interest? These questions need to have personal answers before you can expect to sell yourself. Defining your goal defines the strategy.
Start Writing! When you discover your niche, become an expert in that field. Post blogs, statuses and more to display your skills and competencies in your niche. Employers are looking for the experts
Look Professional! That means be consistent across profile pictures. A classy headshot will do fine. You know what they say: "Dress for the job you want." That means in the cyber world too.
Get socially lubricated! Online that is. Like potential employer profiles on Facebook, follow and tweet companies on Twitter. Tell them what you think! If they're worth working for, they're listening.
Last but certainly not least, do damage control! Make sure your friends aren't tagging you in last nights wild pictures or posting offensive things on your wall. Oh yeah, use a good password!
Well there you have it! Get out there and leverage all of the free resources that are available to you. Market yourself! Work smarter not harder guys!
