Reuse Old Dog Bones Into a Cheap Healthy Treat

Peel sweet potatoes. Fill pot halfway with water and bring to a boil. I usually do more than one sweet potato to cut back on prep time for the next batch.
While waiting for water to boil, dice the potatoes.
Boil sweet potatoes until soft, about 10 to 12 minutes. Then drain hot water and set the sweet potatoes in cold water for 2 to 3 minutes (this stops the cooking process).
Mash the sweet potatoes with a spoon or spatula. They will be soft so it should be easy.
Put a can of your dog's regular wet food and an equal amount of sweet potatoes (approx 1) in a bowl and mix up. Put remaining potatoes in Tupperware.
Give a bit to your patiently waiting dog to see how they like it.
He likes it!
Fill bones with mixture using a fork or spoon. I put a paper bag underneath to catch the overflow.
Also use a chopstick to wedge the mixture further down so the bone is completely full.
One can of food and an equal amount of sweet potato will fill more than 4 dog bones. Save the puréed sweet potatoes and mixture for later use.
Freeze for a few hours. I usually just do this overnight.
Once frozen, the treat will take about an hour to get through. They won't do anything else during this time.
I give him one a day. He's so focused on licking the mixture out and getting to the hard to reach places, it really tires him out.
