Our supplies.
Spread out the newspaper and lay the jacket on it as flat as possible.
Open the can of wax. A screwdriver works well.
Heat the water in a tea kettle and pour into the bowl. Place the can of wax in hot water. To help trap heat and speed the melting of the wax, lightly cover it with the lid.
After a minute or two the wax will begin to melt. Note the liquid like consistency on the top and sides of the can.
Dip the rag into the wax. Start out slowly with just a bit on the tip--don't saturate the end of the rag.
Rub the wax into the jacket in a circular motion. Be thorough and ensure there is no excess wax left on the surface. You will see the jacket darken and appear oily where you applied wax.
Keep applying. A normal jacket should take an hour to apply and use half to two-thirds a can.
Use a blow dryer to start the drying process and to help it bond. Pay special attention to the seams.
Leave it to dry for a day or two. And we're ready to wear! Notice the nice weather-proofed sheen.
