How to replace a dyson beater bar

You can order the Dyson drive belt tool from any third-party parts supplier. You can easily find it on Amazon for under $12. It's totally worth it.

Remove the three screws from the plastic plate that covers the carpet beater bar assembly with the flathead screwdriver or a kitchen knife

Once you've exposed the beater bar on the left hand side you'll see the drive belt

Grab the beater bar on the opposite side of where the drive belt is, so if you're looking at it it's on the right

Using a screw driver or the tool from the belt tool kit hold the drive belt then twist, lift and pull out the old beater bar

This is a good time to take a dry paint brush and clean away all the junk that was behind the bar

Take the belt tool and place it on top of the drive belt. Using the belt tool hook pull hard and place the drive belt on the top post of the tool

Using a lot more strength and the belt tool hook pull more of the belt on to the second post

Now you can insert the new beater bar underneath the belt tool and the lifted drive belt. But make sure the end that you're inserting is the one that has the drive belt roller

Push into place the flat headed guides on either side of the bar with the flat ends pointing down

Reinstall the cover plate

And now you're done
