When the fixture was turned on - flash, hiss, pop! Something is wrong here!
Never have seen a bulb break at its base like this one did.
How do I get the broken bulb out without inflicting harm to me?
Now I know! Several things can be fixed with either duck tape or WD-40. Duck tape seems to be the best choice here.
Eureka! Wrap duck tape around the exposed glass stem and gently twist the bulb out. Be certain electricity is off to the light fixture - best way is to turn off the circuit breaker for that fixture.
Success - all the lights work now. No cuts, no shocks.
And that is one way to replace the broken chandelier bulb.
