STEPS
TOOLS
Get your apron this is going to get messy
scrape the wedging table or board of extra mushy or dry clay
Clean the wire of remaining clay from prior use
mushy wet clay. too wet build, not quite slip
hard clay, beyond leather hard, lots of air pockets, still malleable
i like to use three parts really wet, medium softness (usable but has air pockets) and hard clay
stack they together
cut with the wire
stack them up, the first few times you cut the clay and stack it it will be a mess like this but start to come together after the first 10 cuts
you will be cutting the clay a lot. just think CUT, STACK, SLAM ...REPEAT
this is what your stack will start to look like. Keep all the layers in the same direction (horizontal)
Slam it down get the air pockets out
CUT
STACK
SLAM... repeat
You will CUT, STACK, SLAM at least 50 times until you have nice smooth workable clay no layers, no lumps, no bumps
STACK....your layers are less and less noticeable
No layers and is ready to wedge normally
READY TO get to work... what will you make????
