i like to use three parts really wet, medium softness (usable but has air pockets) and hard clay

stack them up, the first few times you cut the clay and stack it it will be a mess like this but start to come together after the first 10 cuts

you will be cutting the clay a lot. just think CUT, STACK, SLAM ...REPEAT

this is what your stack will start to look like. Keep all the layers in the same direction (horizontal)

You will CUT, STACK, SLAM at least 50 times until you have nice smooth workable clay no layers, no lumps, no bumps
