How to properly wield an axe

Set the wood on the block and look for cracks or splits.

Take an athletic stance and keep your feet pointing towards the base. Hold your dominant hand towards the head of the tool. Slide it towards the non dominant on the downstroke.

Keep the axe to your side and bring it up and over your head. Use force and split. Center it on the cracks identified in step one.

Make contact on the edge of the wood. Watch the splinters fly.

When you are done splitting the wood, make sure to stack it in a covered dry area.
