Spread Crisco on the entire inside of the pan. Than use flower to coat the inside and pour remaining flower into a sink. Pour your cake batter into the pans making sure to make it as even as possible.
( Tip) If you use food dye in the batter you can make cool patterns that will bake through the cake. ( You can use any color food dye for this tip)
(Tip) Use tooth picks and the dye to make heart shapes in the cake batter.
(Tip) Drop one drop of food dye in the batter and repeat with as many as you can fit. Spacing about 1 cm away from each other ( about the length of your finger nail)
(Tip) Drag a toothpick through the center of the dot of food dye from the top and continue down through the batter to add a tail.
(Tip) It should look like this when your done.
Place your cakes in the oven if you did the tip for the cake and bake according to recipe, or box instructions.
If you will be doing piping on the cake as decoration , this is what i do to get the frosting in the bag easier. Place bag tip side down in a tall glass.
Than fold down the sides over the rim of the glass as needed.
Add your frosting making sure its in line with glass rim.
Once the frosting is in the bag, unfold the bag from the sides of the glass.
Grab the top where there is no frosting. Pull the bag out of the cup. Twist the top of the bag 3 times and hold. adjust the bag as needed as the frosting is dispensed.
Take the cakes out of there pans and lay them on a cutting board big enough for the both of them. Cut off the tops of the cake to make them even, this is called leveling the cake.
Level the other cake then spread frosting on the cake using your offset spatula. This will be the crumb coat. The crumb coat catches all the crumbs so it doesn't get in the frosting.
Once a thin layer is on the first cake add the second cake on top.
Cover the top of the cake with a crumb coat.
spread a thin layer of frosting on the sides with your offset spatula and place the cake in the fridge until you can touch the frosting and it doesn't stick to your finger.
Once the crumb coat is chilled ( hard) spread a thick layer of frosting on the cake.
Place your bench scrapper up against the frosting. Hold it there firmly. Turn the turn table making sure to press the bench scrapper against the frosting.
Add frosting in any of the holes or indents to make the sides completely smooth.
You will have a rim of frosting at the top of the cake, level it out with the offset spatula. Smooth out the top of the cake using the offset spatula.
You can decorate your cake anyway you like, i used Oreo crumbs and some frosting in rosettes on the top of the cake.
