The first thing you need to do before planting a Texas redbud tree is to dig a hole that is about twice the size of the root ball.
Next, take the tree out of its container and place it in the middle of the hole.
Add enough soil around the root ball to ensure that the tree can stand upright.
Next, fill the hole with water.
Wait for the roots to soak up the majority of the water in the hole.
Once the water level has gone down, shovel the soil back into the hole. You should mix in some sandy topsoil for aeration, especially if your soil has a lot of clay.
Finally, water, water and water some more! Your new tree needs lots of water as it adjusts to its new home.
