I forgot to add pictures of me putting a base coat on but all nail painters should know to put a clear base coat on before adding any colours. I use a Revlon nail care base coat :)

After your base coat dries you can do one or two coats of your first layer I chose 24/7 by sinful colours professional it is a bright pink. (Sorry the quality isn't very good)

Wait until the polish is completely dry (this is where I used the hairdryer)Stick cello tape on your finger on a diagonal or whatever way you want your stripe to be

Add your first stripe (white) it doesn't have to be neat

Take the tape off carefully when it's still wet I find this gives it a clearer line remember the top of the stripe doesn't have to be neat right now we fix that later

Then you do your other hand so that it gives your first hand time to dry (I reused the cello tape waste not want not! )

When the white is dry put your tape back onto the nail so that a little bit of the white is sticking out from the tape and try to line the tape up at a similar angle ( just follow the polish really)

Paint the black on in the same way as the white you may find the white looks like its shining through just go over it a little more and get a solid black

Carefully peel off the tape and voila striped nail. Finish with a top coat to seal the layers and make it last longer

I kept the tape on the side of my desk and just used either side for the different colours so I wouldn't get confused

Finished product of course you can experiment and add more colours and in different directions but I found that this was a good way to start
