Paint a Room

First go to the store and choose some paint colors. Make sure you choose the right color and the color you want because you will have to live with it for awhile.

Choose from flat, eggshell, satin, semigloss, or gloss. Flat and eggshell are good for minor imperfections. Satin and semigloss are good for scrub ability. Gloss is usually for high moisture areas.

Go to the nearest home improvement store and pick up your supplies. Menards is a great choice for this.

Once you have the room figured out that you want to paint, tape all the things you don't want painted off.

Lay out your drop cloth so you don't get any paint on your nice carpet. No one likes a ruined carpet.

Set up your paint trays, primer, paint, and paint brush. We are gonna paint with primer first so you have a more uniform top coat and long lasting finish.

Take off the tape before the primer dries.

After the primer has been applied, wait at least 2 hours before painting. This is if you use Zinsser fastprime 2.

Retape for the final top coat.

After the primer has dried you can start painting your top coat. First start with trimming around moulding, windows, and doors.

When rolling on your top coat, use the "N" technique. Start from the bottom and basically draw and "N" with your paint roller.

Continue this until the whole room is painted in a uniform color, make sure you go over any other spots again.

Take off the tape and admire your work. Let paint dry at least 2 weeks before you wash it or scrub it. You don't want your new paint to come off the wall.

Voila! Your done. Continue to the next room to make your living space "you".
