Organize Your Spices

I'm working on organizing my home rat pile by rat pile. Should be all neat by August 2029. Anyway...today's project is my spice drawer .

Here it is my drawer before. I like everything alphabetized, but w/ diff sizes, they slide. Look at vanilla & turmeric sneaking away together.

This isn't my original idea; I read ages ago on someone's blog. Don't remember who. Baby Food Jar Lady, wherever you are, I salute you.

Clean baby food jars (um, duh). Get all the stickers off, if possible.

Paint the lids w/ acrylic paint. The original idea used chalkboard paint, which you can now get in the same craft section. Chalkboard isn't my flavor, so went with this.

Lids drying. It was pretty quick to paint. I knocked out the black ones while waiting for my pasta to cook.

Not having kids, I never thought I would be able to do this project. But then my friend gave birth just for me. Thanks, Regina. I salute you too. If u don't have kids, I saw these jars cost .50 cents.

Once dry, use paint pens to label the lids.

Like so.

Like so.

Next up, going to find cute dishes to stick my cinnamon sticks, vanilla extract, and measuring spoons in the same drawer. Then they will all live in harmony in the same place.

Not exactly Pottery Barn , but neater than before.
