How to open a pomegranate without making a mess

Most people think that opening a pomegranate and removing the arils is hard. Actually is not that hard and a while back I finally figured out how to do it efficiently.

1)With a heavier knife remove the top portion of the pomegranate.  At this point you can also remove the bottom part.

2)The pomegranate is naturally divided into sections by the membranes.Score the pomegranate from top to bottom on each section using the membrane division as your guide

3) Once scored, place the pomegranate in the bowl ofvery cold water and leave it for about 5 minutes.

4)When the 5 minutes is up, start separating the fruit into sections while it\u2019s submerged in water. While submerged, you\u2019re less likely to get juice squirting out everywhere .m

5)The seeds will sink to the bottom and the membrane and skin will float to the top.

6)Remove the white stuff floating at the top and then strain the off the water.

7)Then use your fingers to gently remove the red seeds.
