Good afternoon parents, teachers and students. I am Gemma Holman, and today I will be discussing animal cruelty and telling you all why this appalling behaviour needs to stop!

Now, lots of you may be wondering: what is animal cruelty? Acts of violence towards animals, animal neglect and even psychological harm are all forms of animal cruelty and the consequences range from-

fines up to being imprisoned in jail. Raise your hand if you think animal cruelty is unfair? I'm shocked at those who didn't raise their hand. (Or I would have been shocked if anyone didn't raise)

Each year atleast 27 million animals end up in shelters due to animal cruelty. 17 million of these animals get killed. Animals get treated unfairly for human consumption.

Our animal population will plummet if someone doesn't put a stop to this soon. Animals mean alot to me and most of the people around here to. They're so cute, and adorabe, and even if they aren't, it-

still matters that they aren't treated like they would be if the were human like us. Animals do alot of work and produce human goods like milk, which can be made into things like cheese and delicious-

Ice cream. Spiders catch and eat the bloodsucking mosquitos and annoying flies. Pigs can eat all of your disgusting scraps. Picture this: a cute,fluffy bunny rabbit. In a cage, in a lab. This cage the

bunny is in is opened by a researcher who grabs the bunny, holds it still and syringes a product into its eyes. The bunny is now blind just so big skin care and perfume companies can test their-

Pigs go insane because of factory farm conditions. It causes them to frantically chew on the hard, metal bars of their pens. Animals get killed just so people can skin them for fur coats, leather-

jackets, handbags, shoes and etc. Safari animals are hunted and shot for fun and bragging. Believe it or not, these are only afew examples of animal cruelty. It's horrible, isn't it?

Lots of animals are used for experiments, where reasearchers plan to cause pain to the animals that will not be relieved. This is not good, and it needs to be stopped. Just because animals aren't-

civilised like we are, that's no reason to treat them like trash.Animals are living creatures to. Hurting one is like punching a human in the face. Being punched in the face wouldn't feel nice, would-
