How to mount your iphone to a tripod
Use a piece of vinyl tubing to attach your iPhone to a tripod

STEPS
TOOLS
Gather the bolts and nuts.
Cut off approximately 5 to 6 inches of tubing using the utility knife.
Place the tubing with the ends curved up and slice it lengthwise, only cutting through the top.
It should look like this.
Drill a 1/2 inch hole through the bottom of the tube, halfway along the length.
Put the bolt through the hole, thread on one of the vinyl lock nuts, and tighten it all the way.
Thread the other lock nut on with the vinyl side up. You may need to first thread it fully onto another bolt to cut threads through the vinyl part. Leave half the threads open on the bottom side.
Thread the mounting plate from your tripod into the open threads in the bottom of the nut.
Cover the bolt head with tape, to avoid scratching your smartphone. Attach tube to your tripod. This one is a Gorillapod.
You saved the $20-30 you would have spent on a Glif!
