STEPS
TOOLS
Plug your mig welder into a 220v outlet
Open your gas all the way.
Find the numbers on this chart that align with the thickness of metal your going to weld and the size of the wire in your welder.
Set your wire speed and voltage according to the numbers you got on the previous step.
Leave about a 1/4 in of stickout while you are welding, stickout is how much wire is sticking out of the nozzle.
Put your ground on any piece of metal that is touching the piece you want to weld.
Put some welding gloves on or at least thick leather gloves
Put on your welding hood, and make sure it is turned on if it isn't automatic.
To start welding hold your gun right above your piece of metal and pull the trigger until the wire touches. Remember, leave a 1/4 inch of stickout.
After you start welding make a slow and constant e motion. Consistency is key.
With some practice, your weld should look like this.
- Mig welding machine
- Some scrap metal
- Thick leather gloves
- Welding hood
