Grilling season is here, and it's a good idea to know exactly how much fuel is left in the propane tank. Here's an easy and accurate way to measure how much is left in the tank.

Find the tare weight of the tank, which is how much the cylinder weighs when it’s empty. In this case, the tare weight ("TW") is 18 pounds.

Place the cylinder on a scale.

Subtract the tare weight from the tank’s current weight, and that’s how much fuel remains.
