Split and scrape the inside of each pod. The black paste is actually thousands of seeds.
Put the scraped paste and pods into the mason jar. Cover with vodka.
Seal and store in a cool dark cupboard. Give it a shake once a week for the first month. The liquid will get darker. Flavor is best after 3 to 6 months. Top with more vodka as you use it.
