The Cast: Green Plantains, platano smasher
In a frying pan,pour some canola oil. Raise the flame to medium high heat. Place a few pieces in the pan making sure not to crowd them. We want to cook them partially.
Cook them until browned and partially cooked. We don't want to over fry them too much right now cause they will get smashed and refried a second time.
Now here is what i do next. Add some salt to a bowl of warm water.
Enjoy..You have now made TOSTONES.
Some Tips : 1-To preserve a green plantain put it in the fridge. They get yellow quick. 2-Never peel a cold green plantain, bring it to room temp then peel. They are hard to peel when cold.:)
