Gather ingredients. And a medium to large pot. (black pepper snuck in with his friends for a photo op, he wasn't used)
Empty ketchup into the pot, turn to medium high and stir in the brown sugar. Try to break up the clumps, you want the sugar to dissolve.
Once the sugar is dissolved reduce the heat to low and add the rest of the ingredients. Give it a good whisk to mix the juice and the ketchup.
Let the sauce simmer for a few hours, whisking or stirring as often as you can. As it cooks down the flavors will adjust and the sauce will thicken.
Let the sauce cool and it should fit back into that ketchup bottle you used to make it. It has a vinegar tang with the sweetness from the brown sugar, and smoke flavor from the paprika. Enjoy!
