Dogs love sweet potatoes and they are a healthy snack, packed with vitamins and minerals.
Preheat your oven for 250 degrees and line your cookie sheet with tin foil.
Wash your yams/sweet potatoes, they don't need to be scrubbed clean as your going to peel them anyway.
Peel your potatoes using the potato peeler or knife.
Cut your potatoes into Long slices (you can also wrap bacon around them here, instead of cutting them smaller).
I cut mine into smaller chunks for bite sized treats.
Put your potatoes on the cookie sheet, make sure the pieces aren't overlapping. If they are moist you should leave them out for at least half an hour to dry out.
Now you can add honey, just a small drizzle over the potatoes. I usually only add honey to half the sheet, making two types of treats.
If you look closely there's only honey on the right side.
Now place in preheated oven for 90 minutes at 250 degrees.
Set your timer and wait....
This is what they will look like after 90 minutes, now flip all of the pieces over to cook the other side.
Now put the cookie sheet back in the oven for another 90 minutes at 250 degrees -- a total of 3 hours!
This is what they should look like when they are done.
You can store these snacks in the fridge up to 3 weeks or freezer up to 4 months.
I hope your dog enjoys them as much as ours does.
