I had a lot of loose tea leaves that had been sitting in my pantry for awhile.
I heard you could roast the dried leaves to bring out the scent. I set the oven at 250.
I spread the leaves in a shallow roasting pan. Don't pile them on too thick.
Slide pan into preheated oven.
Set the timer for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile I found these net bags left from a wedding shower. You can use a sock or muslin bags. Be sure they are dry.
Remove the pan from the oven. The whole kitchen smells great.
Stir around a bit while the leaves are cooling.
This photo shows the difference in color before and after roasting.
Fill each bag about 3/4 full. Secure ends of bags or if using socks, tie in knot.
The bags look pretty.
Stuff sachets into smelly sneakers.
In fact, why not make enough sachets for all your gym shoes. Your closet or gym bag will smell great.
