Preheat the oven to 190c degrees
Prepare your ingredients before you start cooking
Hear the oil then add onions, garlic and carrots. Cook until softened
Add the beef, make sure it's browned, then add tomatoes, tomato paste, stock and the herbs. Add salt and pepper to taste
Cover the sauce and leave it for 30 minutes to simmer
Meanwhile, boil the potatoes until soft, ad salt to taste if needed
Remove from water and mash with milk, butter, pepper and cheese, season with salt and pepper
In ovenproof dish, spread the meat sauce in the bottom and add the mash on the top
Be generous with the potato topping
Leave it in the oven until browned on the top around 15-25 minutes, keep checking
Enjoy with roasted veg or any choice of side ;-)
