gather all of your supplies and preheat the oven to 300 degrees fahrenheit

whisk the egg whites

add the rest of the wet ingredients (honey, syrup, oil, vanilla extract), including the salt, cinnamon, and orange zest

dump the oats and nuts in the bowl of wet stuff and mix until thoroughly combined--I would recommend using spatula or spoon to do this, not your hands:/

spread the mixture onto 2 baking sheets with either parchment paper or silicone mats--you can add the dried fruit as well, if you like them crunchy.  Now stick them in the oven for approx 45 min.

And voila! Let them cool for maybe 10 minutes or so, unless you really have the urge to pick at them, which is what I do:P Store in a few mason jars and keep them around for parfaits or whatever

  • 1/3c neutral oil (vegetable, sunflower, grapeseed, etc)
  • 1/4c Maple syrup
  • 1.0tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4c Honey
  • 1.0tsp Cinnamon
  • 1.0tsp Salt
  • 1.0tsp Grated orange zest (or more if desired)
  • 4.0c Old-fashioned oats
  • 2.0 large egg whites
  • 2.0c dried fruit (cranberries, raisins, currants, etc.)
  • 1.0c chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts, cashews, etc.)
