First of all, collect your eggs.
Fill a saucepan with enough water so when your eggs are added they will be covered.
Bring the water in the saucepan to the point where it is almost at boiling point. You'll know it's at this stage when small bubbles begin to rise to the surface.
It is optional at this point to add a teaspoon of vinegar to the water, this will help the eggs to keep their shape.
Crack your eggs and add them into the simmering water. If you are wanting runny yolk then leave the eggs in for 2-3 minutes. If you prefer hard yolk,, 4-6 minutes.
After the time, depending whether you prefer hard or runny yolk, scoop the eggs out of the saucepan. Preferably with a spoon that will make it easy for the excess water to drain out.
Add your poached eggs to your toast or whatever you've chosen to eat them with.
Add salt and pepper to taste(optional). Your poached eggs are now ready to eat! :)
- White vinegar (optional)
