Get all your ingredients ready.
Beat butter till soft and fluffy.
Add sugar and beat.
Add egg and vanilla extract and beat.
Add flour, baking powder and salt.
Combine the crumbly mixture with your hands to form a smooth dough.
Divide in half(sorry no photo), add almond flour and mix well.
To the other half, add the cocoa powder and mix.
You end up with two balls of dough - almond and cocoa.
Between two sheets of parchment paper, roll the dough out into a rectangle 1/4cm thick.
Like this. Refrigerate without removing the parchment sheets for an hour.
Do the same with the chocolate dough.
Once chilled, remove the top layers of parchment paper. Place the chocolate layer on top of the plain one.
Like this. Roll tightly along the long side. Use the paper to help you along. If the outer dough cracks, let it soften for a few minutes and roll.
Wrap this log in the paper and refrigerate for at least 3-4 hours or overnight. The dough has to firm up well to be able to slice without altering the shape.
Slice into 1/2 thick slices and bake in a 180C preheated oven for 10 minutes.
