INGREDIENTS
For the starter
Mix 2 tsp yeast in 1c warm water and add 1 c flour
Let it rest for 30 minutes at room temperature
For the bread
In a bowl mix 4 tsp yeast, 3 Tbs honey with 3/4 c warm Mulling spices tea.
Add 1/4 c oil
Add 4 1/2 c flour
Add 1 Tbs salt
Add the starter
Mix and knead for 5 minutes to form a soft ball of dough
Place in a bowl and let it rest for 40 minutes
The dough should at least double
Pinch the dough and divide in two
Flatten one part and add 1/4 c golden raisins
Divide the dough into three parts
Form three ropes
Braid the ropes
Repeat the same procedure with the other half
Place braids on a baking sheet
Let it rise for 40 minutes
Preheat the oven to 400 F (200 C)
Brush braids with egg wash
Sprinkle sugar on top of braids Bake for 30 to 40 minutes
