Put cold tap water in a pot.
Gently place your eggs in one layer in the pot. Eggs that are at least a few days old work best. Fresh eggs are harder to peel. Go figure!
There should be an inch of water above the eggs.
Add a pinch of salt - this will also help you peel the shells easier.
Bring the water to a boil and let boil for about a minute.
Then turn off the heat, cover the pot, and let the eggs sit in the water for 12 minutes. Now go do something else while you wait.
After 12 minutes, drain and run cold water over the eggs to stop the cooking process. You can also place them in a bowl of ice water to stop them from cooking further.
Peel. See how easy it is!
Make sure you rinse off any egg shells. Eat as is of use in another recipe.
