How to make new wood look old

Take a piece of new wood, paint it a solid color of your choice.

Paint on your design or phrase.

Take a small piece of sand paper or sander and sand the whole thing, careful not to sand off your letters or design, really rough it up. Focus on the edges. It will take some of the paint off.

Once you are happy with the way it looks, brush on a stain of your choice. Wipe off with a soft cloth as you go. Continue until you get a color your happy with.

The stain sets the paint, gives it shine and seals the product. This is great for hanging signs. Be creative and have fun.
