Beat butter, vanilla essence, caster sugar and brown sugar together until smooth, add the egg beat until all combined

Stir in sifted flour
Add in the choc bits (optional: you can add in 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts)

Roll into teaspoon sized balls

Place them on the trays and cook at 175 degrees for 15 minutes or until browned

Leave on trays to cool, then enjoy
