How to make jo jo's easy sushi
Sushi doesn't have to be so hard. Sushi can be so easy, my 9 year old can make it. Will need adult for stove and knife skills. But really easy to do. Enjoy!
..lets start out with bringing 2 cups water to boil. Yep, we are making the rice. 🍚
Lid on.
Bring to hard boil like this.
Add 2 cups rice. Oh yeah..you got it. I'm using Minute Rice. ♨
..Still here?..good ..stir in the rice. ..
Lid on.
Heat off. I know, you just put the rice in. Trust me..walk away.
Set timer 5 min.
5 min later. Rice is done!
Take a fork and fluff it.
Now all rice gets to this point, then according to next steps, the possibilities are endless. But we are making sushi. So...
Put in a bowl..
Cover and in the fridge to cool.
While that's cooling. Work on what's going to fill the sushi. We sliced some carrots.
And celery. But you can choose anything you like raw. Even put raw salmon, and cream cheese. Yum! Or if rather, can use cooked items. It's your sushi. Put what you want in it!
I like to "season" the veggies.
Grab some Soy Sauce.
Shake some on and mix up.
Like this.
Cover and in the fridge.
When rice is cooled, measure out 2 Tablespoons sugar.
Grab the Rice vinegar.
Add 2 Tablespoons of it.
And 1 Tablespoon of Kosher salt. Mix well.
Add 2 cups of cooled cooked rice.
Mix well.
Now give a taste. Need more sugar? More vinegar? More salt? Add and mix.
Get out the sushi rolling mat. A simple mat cost about a dollar. Yes I'm serious! I know..you should have already gotten one for that price.
Grab the Sushi Seaweed.
Shiny side down. This is the shiny side.
See this side has more of a matte look.
Ok. Cover in prepared rice.
Line up fillings.
We like sesame seeds sprinkled over.
Seeds on.
Now the rolling gets better with practice. So just do the best you can. It taste the same. Here you see Sidney starting to roll.
No need to touch it. Just roll the mat. Keep trying. You'll get it.
Ta-da! She did great!
Slice up on platter.
Add extra Sesame Seeds on top.
We make a dip with pea size amount of wasabi and 1/2 cup soy sauce. Mix well. Dip it in, whole slice in mouth. 😋Yum! Enjoy!
