How to make hood straps for your kayak / roof rack
I use these little straps so I can tie my kayaks down on the front of my truck so the straps don't rub on the bumper

This is how I use to strap my kayaks to the roof of my truck. The problem is, the strap coming down over the bumper was rubbing and was going to mess up the paint
I cut about 12" off of one of my ratcheting straps and made it into a loop
Under the hood, I removed one of the bolts that held on the fender
I heated the nail and pushed it through the nylon strap to make a hole for the bolt to pass. You may need to heat the ends where you cut to melt it together so it doesn't fray
Thread the bolt through. If the head of the bolt is small, you may want to use a washer
Bolt it back with the strap facing out
Repeat for the other side
Pull them over the fender and close the hood, you can tuck them under when you're not using them
Strap your kayaks or whatever else you have on the roof. Hope this helps someone.
