INGREDIENTS
I'm sure you have all this stuff in your cupboard already.... With the exception of the egg. Don't put eggs in the cupboard, I'll put a sad face to stress this :(
We are diving in, put all the flour into your bowl. If you're a cool kid you have a fancy mixer with a bowl you can use.
Bring the yeast to the party
Gimme some sugar, I am your neighbor! Use at least 3 tbs, but you could do a little more if you like it sweet.
Throw in the salt. Actually don't throw it, gently pour it in.
Powdered milk can be added. Use a 1/4 cup. Why? Because I said so.
Cut the butter into cubes for melting. Pop it in your microwave for 30 seconds or until melted. If it doesn't melt all the way you should have made better cubes. Too late now, back to the microwave
Whisk your egg a bit in a separate bowl.
Here's the butter. Not much else to see here folks, move along.
Flip your mixer on low and add the eggs. For you spoon wielders out there, you can pour all the ingredients in now and mix by hand
And the butter
Slowly add the water and let the flour absorb everything. It will start to make a nice ball of dough
Sprinkle some flour on your workspace and plop the dough right there front and center. It's kneading time. Knead for ten minutes. I'll be adding a guide on how to do that, for now just give it a whirl
When done kneading, grab your favorite bowl and spray it lightly with some cooking spray
Put your dough in the bowl and give it a little spray too so it does not feel left out
Cover your bowl with a damp cloth. The dough has to rise for 2 hours. You'll have to find something to do with your two hours on your own because I'm not writing a guide for that.
Your dough should be roughly twice as large as it was before. Give it a slight press in the center to release the built up air.
Flatten the dough out to be the length of your pan and about twice as wide. Roll it up in a tight roll.
Place it in the loaf pan. It's time to wait again. This time only 90 min
Wowzer it overflowing. Ideally you'll have a nice little ridge/lip like this. It's ready now
You want to bake it @350 for about 35-40 minutes. I recommend kicking back and taking in the smell cause it's wonderful.
When done pull from the pan inmediatley and let cool for at least 1 hour. That right there is your bread. Pat yourself on the back.
