While your spool is drying, sort through some old buttons to choose 1 or 2 to glue to the spool top. The buttons help to hold the wire loop in place.

Make sure that the wire will fit through the holes on the buttons you choose.

You may want to double up some of your buttons for a decorative effect. Glue them together with E6000, making sure that the holes line up.

You can form a smaller loop by wrapping the wire in the same way around your glue stick container.

When the button tops are completely dry, you can insert the ends of the wires through the buttonholes. They will stay in place without any glue, but you may choose to add some if you wish.

Choose the paper you would like to start with. Gently roll it around your spool. Overlap the ends slightly and trim the extra away.

Continue to coax and roll the paper piece into a curved shape so it will wrap well around the spool.

Wrap the paper around the spool and hold it in place until it sticks together. Continue to add more pieces in the same manner until you're happy with the appearance.
