Slice up your COLD Mac & cheese into 1x2" pieces - give or take. When you fry this, it *has* to be cold (even frozen!) or it'll fall apart.

Drop it into the milk, just to wet it.

Toss it into the bowl where you've mixed the cornmeal, basil (missing from this photo), cayenne, and pepper.

Shake gently to coat the piece fully.

Place gently into about 1/2 inch of hot oil, turning after 2-3 mins. I use a soup pot to help contain the grease splatters.
If you have a fryer, USE IT! The goal here is for a golden brown, crispy, beautiful cornmeal.

Serve with ranch, dill ranch, spicy ranch, any (ranch) dipping sauce you like! Kidding. You don't HAVE to use ranch (if you want to kick my recipe in the face). These taste SO GOOD - go make them! 🍴
