Gather your ingredients
Finely chop the onion and garlic. Put into a sauce pan with the butter. Sauté until the garlic and onion are translucent (about 10 minutes).
Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer for 20 minutes until the sauce begins to thicken.
Let the sauce cool for 10 minutes.
Using a strainer, pour the sauce into another bowl to remove the onion and garlic solids. You may want to repeat this process two or three times to make sure you remove them all.
