STEPS
INGREDIENTS
Gather your supplies
Cut your bread, not too thick or thin. One egg makes 6 slices. Sandwich bread works too, or whole grain/wheat.
Use any NON STICK pan. I'm going with the crepe pan because it is bigger.
Crack your egg.
Add 1/4 cup milk or half and half, and then add another half of a 1/4 cup. I usually eyeball it. Your mix should be light yellow, don't mix yet.
Add 3-4 spoons of sugar. 3 for sweet, (5 if you like it to be really sweet :)). I do 3.5 tea spoons. You can use a tea spoon measure instead if you like, make sure it has a little hill on top.
Add a pinch or two of vanilla, or 1/2 teaspoon liquid vanilla extract.
Use a whisk or fork to mix it all together. The picture shows a funny color but it's a light banana yellow type color
Add olive oil and a tea spoon of coconut oil if you like. You could also use butter or vegetable oil. Mix the olive oil and coco oil as it heats up on medium
Dip the bread in mixture, both sides. But don't let it soak too much. Only for a few seconds. Otherwise you won't have enough mix
Add to warm pan, and keep an eye on it.
You can make it a little darker than this if you like, turn the heat down so it doesn't burn. You will need to reapply oil to the next batch. Or as many batches as you have if you don't see oil.
It's ok if you don't have enough mix for the last piece it cooks just fine :)
You can add cinnamon after it's done or into the mix, if you like.
These are my favorite jams for French toast :)
Don't eat too fast, and enjoy! :)
