How to make danish meatballs (frikadeller)

Preheat oven to 150C/300F

mix ground meats until well combined. Use a mixer or spoon so you don't warm up the mix and melt the fat

Mix the meat with the onions, salt & pepper, eggs & bread/milk mixture.

Heat oil and butter in a fry pan until bubbling. Scoop frikadeller using a large metal tablespoon.  Fry on one side until browned, turn carefully with a fork.

These are typically egg shaped or have 3 sides. I turn them 3 times to brown them.

Transfer the browned meatballs to a baking dish and bake while you are making the remaining batches of meatballs.

You can also make regular small meatballs and meatloaf with this mixture.

  • 1.0lb Ground pork
  • 1.0lb Ground beef
  • 4.0 Eggs
  • 1.0c Milk or Water
  • 2.0c Diced Onion
  • 1.0Tbsp Flour (if needed)
  • 2.0c Bread cubes
  • 1.0c 50/50 Butter/Oil mixture for frying or more
  • 2.0tsp Salt & Pepper
  • 1.0tsp Large fry pan
  • 1.0tsp Baking Dish
  • Spoons for mixing/scooping
