INGREDIENTS
Head oven to 350 degrees
Add about 1 to 1 1/4 cup of cane sugar to a non stick pan and turn on heat to melt sugar
Higher heat
Add 1 tbsp of vanilla extract
Keep stirring the sugar so it doesn't burn and until it melts
Be sure all granulas are meltef
Add Carmelized sugar to dish
While the sugar is hot quickly coat the sides of the dish with the sugar before it hardens
Put the dish in a roast pan
Boil water
Add the custard mixture to the bowl over the sugar
Cover with foil
Add the boiling water ( about an inch or two of water) to the roast pan and put into the heated oven
Check on flan after about 45 minutes- of the custard is shakey then it isn't done
After 1 hour chech the flan custard with a knife- it should be clean when it comes out- don't overbake because the flan will taste rubbery later
Let the flan cool for 20-30 minutes and then put in fridge
