STEPS
INGREDIENTS
For ages 12 and up.
This is the Glutinous rice flour bag. If you can't find it, try looking at Sun foods or Dragon Star.
First, pour the 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar into the same bowl. Then, mix ( usually I mix with my own hands ).
The dough should feel similar to cookie dough. If it doesn't, you should add a 1/4 to 1/2 more water, but if it's too watery, you have to add more powder.
Separate dough into 2 sections. Then add 2 - 4 drops of food coloring to each portion. ( Don't add too much or it'll get bitter )
Before you start rolling, add water into both pots half way and boil on high.
Once the water bubbles, put in the ricecake balls ( you HAVE to boil the colors separately or they'll mix ).
Now, keep stirring the balls ( you do this to prevent the balls from sticking on the bottom of the pot ).
After 5 minutes, taste a ball and see if you think it's squishy ( tender ) enough.
Once you're satisfied with how it tastes, strain ( pour ) the water out.
Then, rinse the balls for about 5 minutes in cold water to prevent them from sticking together.
Put the first color aside while you're working on the next color.
Do steps 6-10 again for the 2nd color.
Then, do a quick last rinse for both colors.
Once you're done with the other color, put both of the colored balls into your finale bowl/plate ( make sure you drained all water out ).
Next, pour the 1 cup coconut flakes in and mix ( if you like more of a coconut flavor, you can add more flakes ).
Then mix ( It's a lot easier to mix with your own hands ).
Lastly, eat & enjoy !
