First, you will need to get all of your ingredients listed. Make sure that before you start you wash your hands thoroughly.
You will need a mixer and bowl. In the bowl, beat the butter and sugar at high speed until fluffy.
Beat in egg and vanilla.
Melt the chocolate in the microwave. Stir after every thirty seconds to avoid burning the chocolate.
Add melted chocolate; mix well.
Add flour, baking powder, and salt; mix well.
Cover; refrigerate for about two hours or until hard.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease cookie sheet or get parchment paper so the cookies won't stick.
Divide the dough into four somewhat equal sections. Reserve one section; refrigerate the remaining sections.
Divide reserved dough into five equal pieces.
Roll each dough piece on lightly floured surface to 12 in rope; sprinkle with sugar or sprinkles.
Transfer 1 rope at a time to prepared cookie sheets. Form each rope into pretzel shape. Repeat steps with remaining dough pieces.
Bake 12-14 minutes or until edges begin to brown.
Cool cookies on a cookie sheet for at least one minutes. Make sure that you are very careful around the hot oven and use oven nits. Remove to wire racks; cool completely and enjoy!!!
